Self-Compassion
Self-compassion involves:
-
Treating yourself with kindness, care and less self-directed criticism when you are having a difficult time, things go wrong, or when you notice something you don’t like about yourself.
-
Acting the same way towards yourself as you would toward a friend who is having a difficult time: be supportive, understanding, encouraging, and forgiving.
-
Not ignoring pain with a “stiff upper lip” mentality. Instead, stop and tell yourself “this is really difficult right now” and ask yourself “how can I comfort myself in this moment?”
