Having conversations
This section provides guidance and tips for having conversations with your staff about mental health and mental wellness. This section may also help to increase your understanding of your role and responsibilities as a leader.
As a leader, you provide support and guidance to your team. The following videos illustrate the importance and impact of engaging in a conversation with a staff member when you, or one of your team members, are concerned about the staff member's well-being.
You are a role model for creating a workplace culture where everyone feels valued, supported and comfortable. You are also a role model for how to have conversations about mental health and mental wellness that come from a place of concern.
When you or one of your staff are concerned about another staff members mental health:

Don’t ignore the signs and symptoms.

Take time to plan, initiate and follow up on conversations about mental health and mental wellness.

Remember: you don’t have to have all the answers. Your role is to listen, support, help someone connect with appropriate resources, and follow up.
